I have found installation instructions, but since I have only previously replaced my keyboard I am not sure about some of the instructions.The instructions tell me to remove the keyboard, then to remove the EMI shield.
I am not sure what this looks like, but I hope I recognize it after I remove the keyboard. The next steps are to disconnect the fan power cable, loosen the four captive screws and pull the microprocessor thermal-cooling assembly by the pull-tab to lift the assembly out of the system. It says to remove the mylar that covers the thermal grease on the assembly. On my assembly there is square plastic cover over a copper square about 1 inch in diameter and in the middle of that copper square is a smaller white square. Is this the thermal grease Finally, I saw somewhere in one of the threads I read that there is something that needs to be unlocked before I remove the old assembly.
